Aaltojen alla (Under the Waves) light work completed in Savilahti, Kuopio, Finland

The light work projected on the facade of the Savilahti wastewater pumping station is a collaboration between artist Kirsti Taiviola and lighting designer Riku Pirtilä. A light pattern resembling water reflections is projected on the facade of the pumping station. The work is based on the utilization of glass optics, as the projections have been realized with the hand-blown glass lenses integrated into the facade lighting, which direct the light into patterns resembling water reflections. Glass lenses are made by hand in Finland. On different celebrations and theme days of the calendar year, the coloring of the work takes on different color expressions.
