In the beginning of something new it’s time to make a quick look into the past and particularly in the previous year 2016, which paved the road we’re walking on now.
The year 2016 begun with an appetizer of an exhibition that gave a first taste of what was going to come later in the year. Her “lightbeam drawings” were showcased in “Kuvajaisia” exhibition in FYI – Kallio Contemporary in Helsinki in early January.

Peep Show – other realities
For the summer of 2016 Taiviola’s works travelled to Nuutajärvi Glass Village to a “Peep Show – other realities”-exhibition that showcased works from 21 Finnish glass artists. Here
Taiviola’s main event of the year 2016 was Showroom 2016 in September 7-9 where Taiviola presented her latest design, the “Echo” wall lamp and brought on display her knowhow on making glass lenses that can be used to direct lightbeams into patterns and images. Showroom is a joint design trade fair of Helsinki Design Week and Habitare and arranged annually at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. Here.
Out of the Box
An aftertaste of Showroom 2016 was given in Out of the Box -exhibition in Rupla Kallio, Helsinki in November 2016. The exhibition showcased Kirsti Taiviola’s “lightbeam drawing” -works from along the years. Out of the Box was the closing event of the good year of 2016.
